Skiffle Man hadn't shown much in 3 runs in novice hurdles over distances of 2m or so, but he proven a different proposition when being stepped up in distance for handicap debut last time out at Southwell. He raced over 2m4 1/2 furlongs that day and ran on well to finish 2nd of 16 beaten only 1/2 length. Considering his full brother Tim Pat won over 3m 4 1/2f, the step up to 3m for today's race could well suit Skiffle Man even better and despite being raised 7lb in the weights, he looks like a horse that has plenty of scope to improve past his current handicap mark.
