Al Waqidi is a horse that has certainly had his issues and having began his race career in 2020 winning at Wolverhampton he then won again at Newmarket in April 2021 for Charlie Appleby. However that was his last run for that stable and he has had to wait nearly 4 years to make his debut for current connection at Wolverhampton last month. Over an inadequate 6f he stuck to the task well to finish 3rd of 4, not really showing his form. The handicapper has dropped him 5lbs for that run and now back over 1m and with greater race fitness he could well be a different animal this time round. There is of course the big question mark about the 'bounce' factors after such a long lay off, however a chance is taken that Al Waqidi can show some of his back class. Al Waqidi rates a 3 star win Pick.
