VERDICT: In a wide-open handicap, it may pay to side with one towards the bottom of the weights. Alpha Spirit (13) has been in good form, winning two starts ago and finishing a close second over 1600m at Nantes in late March. He gets the nod ahead of Platine (14), who broke her maiden last time and should remain competitive. Penny De Cerisy (16), running off bottom weight, makes solid each-way appeal, while Piantarella (1) looks the best of the remainder.
