VERDICT: Vecu showed considerable promise across his three racecourse appearances last season, earning him a handicap rating of 86. The Gosdens' colt hasn't been seen since filling the runner-up spot at Kempton in September, but he returns with his yard amongst the winners and a breakthrough success could be imminent. The Andrew Balding team have made a fine start to the new campaign and Christmas Gift warrants a market check, while Critical Aclaim should not be overlooked either.
