VERDICT: Hornsea Bay made a good impression when scoring on debut at Ayr and then arguably bettered that performance under a penalty when touched off at the same venue. He appears to have a bright future, but it may pay to side with Secret Theory. Charlie Appleby's colt is a half-brother to the stable's Grade 1 winner Mysterious Night and struck at the first time of asking at Newmarket in the autumn. Archivist isn't out of it on his first appearance for William Haggas.
