VERDICT: Best Rate took a step forward when getting off the mark on his most recent outing over 7f at Wolverhampton in December. A subsequent gelding operation may bring about further improvement from Richard Hannon's inmate and he tops the shortlist in an open event. The unbeaten Kameel is another handicap debutant who merits plenty of respect. Others to note are Sweet Fantastic, Spirit Lead Me and Brindavan.
