VERDICT: A high-class trotter with nothing to prove at this level, Izoard Vedaquais (15) has not been seen out since last June. He sports just hind shoes for the occasion but still has a reasonable chance of kicking the year off victoriously. Benjamin Rochard will still be justifiably wary of co-back-row starter Ibiki De Houelle (14) who excels with Eric Raffin. A Gr.2 winner last summer, Kataki De Wallis (7) makes his first start since October, but is shod to preference and the 25m head-start will only work to his advantage. Iris Des Roseaux (5) is barefoot for his return to the track, adores Caen, and is not about to let the side down.
