VERDICT: Main Defender sets a lofty standard and is weighted to make a successful defence of his title. Barbaresco is closely matched on the form of a recent 1400m meeting but unlikely to reverse the form on similar weight terms, especially over a course and distance that the former is undefeated. Promising 3YOs Greaterix and Cosmic Speed have the means to make life difficult for the selection but only a career-best performance from either will topple the reigning champ.
