VERDICT: I Am Maximus is targeting a repeat Grand National success but might still concede 12lb to 161-rated Thyestes winner Nick Rockett and follow up last year's success in this race. The selection was recently handed top weight for April's showpiece and it is notable Paul Townend has chosen to ride him. Nick Rockett has strong claims on ratings and is suited by race conditions but lacks the selection's best high-class ability. Affordale Fury, who needs to complete the course to qualify for Cheltenham handicaps, was an unlucky loser recently and can get involved. Intense Raffles reverts to fences and is another en route to Aintree.
