VERDICT: Mesaafi relished a return to 6f when running out a ready winner at Newcastle 25 days ago and there could be more to come. That was only the four-year-old's second outing under the tutelage of Simon Pearce and a 6lb higher mark looks surmountable. The biggest threat may emerge from Shallow, who is only 2lb higher than last month's C&D victory. Fellow last-time-out scorer Grenham Bay can also make his presence felt.
