VERDICT: Warbird improved in first-time blinkers to win a course-and-distance maiden late last year and, with the likelihood of further progress, should play another leading role from No 1 gate. Fellow last-start winner Dream Searcher fits a similar profile and a resultant 3-point penalty isn't likely to prevent another forward showing. However, preference is for class-dropper Maritzburg Memory who should have more to offer in these calmer waters off a reduced mark. Lady Loxton, Grue Of Ice and Veronique appeal most of the remainder.
