VERDICT: There was plenty of encouragement to be taken from Pierrot Jaguen's third-placed Rules bow over an extended 2m4f at Cheltenham on New Year's Day and a breakthrough victory looms. Olly Murphy's gelding had little difficulty in scoring over 3m between the flags and he is hard to oppose. The biggest threat may emerge from Just A Memory, who arrives on the back of a respectable second at Southwell. Taita Hills and Seatoit are others to note.
