ANALYSIS: Mid-division, in rear 7th, pushed along and struggling 10th, tailed off 5 out, pulled up before 3 out
VERDICT: In what looks a competitive affair, Royal Mer gets a tentative vote. He showed up well for long way before fading into fifth in attritional conditions over 2m at Haydock last month and, upped in trip sporting first-time cheekpieces, he could go close off just 2lb higher than his last winning mark. King Arise was narrowly denied at Wincanton on Boxing Day and another bold bid off 5lb higher appears likely. Immortal Fame is just one other to consider.
