VERDICT: Nab Wood had excuses when finishing sixth in his hat-trick bid over an extended 2m6f at Kelso last month and it would be no surprise if he were able to make his presence felt now eased in trip off an unchanged mark. That said, he is tentatively taken on with Foster'sisland. Micky Hammond's charge was in with a winning chance at the final flight before fading into fourth on the run-in over an extended 2m5f at Wetherby on Boxing day and, coming back a furlong in distance off 1lb lower, this may be the day to catch him. Golden Maverick is another for the shortlist.
