VERDICT: Marinakis shed his maiden tag in a classified stakes at Chelmsford last week and should mount a bold bid back in the handicap ranks, despite his 5lb penalty. However, the vote goes to Retraction, who has made the frame on each of his last three starts, including over C&D three starts ago. Ruth Carr's five-year-old goes off the same mark as his most recent third at Wolverhampton and could be rewarded for his consistency. Charlatan is another to keep an eye on.
