VERDICT: Carlton accounted for Lumberjack by just under a length when successfully completing a C&D double last time, retaining his unbeaten record since joining the James Owen yard. The five-year-old was worth a lot more than the winning margin suggests on that occasion and he has lots in his favour as he bids for a hat-trick off 2lb higher. Alex The Great finished a respectable third at Southwell on his most recent outing and should go well off an unchanged mark, while Black Smoke is another to note.
