VERDICT: Fireblade was a well-backed favourite when he made his Tapeta debut over C&D last month. Although the son of Frankel came up short when third that day, it was still an encouraging enough display to suggest he could be hard to beat. Currently rated 88, Northern Ruler sets a fair standard and is an obvious threat on these terms, despite stepping up in trip. Similar comments apply to the penalised Royal Approval, who was a game winner over 1m2f here last month.
