VERDICT: Gilded Craken may have failed in the hat-trick bid at Churchill Downs, but he ran with honour. Lucency's own attempt at a three-timer wasn't quite as encouraging, while Executive Action won four on the bounce at a lower level prior to his latest third. Maximus Magic has been off since the summer, but he held his own in stakes company and his fitness is worth chancing.
