VERDICT: Victory in this race 12 months ago formed part of an excellent season for Forward Plan, which saw him go on to get pipped in the Great Yorkshire Chase here before lifting Kempton's Coral Trophy. He returned with a satisfactory fourth in the Badger Beer and should be cherry-ripe to defend his title. The weather put paid to Gaboriot's Becher bid last week, but his Grand Sefton third suggested he is still on the way up. Does He Know's two Cheltenham fourths have been solid and he is back to the mark off which he won the Grimthorpe.
