VERDICT: Although he has proved expensive to follow on his last two defeats, a first-time hood could prove the key to unlocking Smart Hero's ability. The Shamardal gelding was far too keen when finishing ninth at Kempton last month, but he may take some stopping if settling better. Hafeet Alain arrives on the back of a respectable sixth in a class 2 event at the same venue as the selection and is a viable alternative dropping in class. Local Hero and Palmar Bay are also noted.
