VERDICT: National Question pulled well clear with the runner-up when on target by a narrow margin at Hexham last time and he may have more to offer after a 5lb rise, but the vote goes to Bathgate. Philip Kirby's charge has yet to truly shine in handicaps, but better was expected at Ayr recently. Eased a further 1lb in the handicap and dropped in trip, the four-year-old might be able to sustain his finishing effort now. Others to note include King Otis and Trafalgar Square.
