VERDICT: The hat-trick seeking Balranald must enter calculations in his current mood and a 4lb rise in the ratings for his recent triumph at Newcastle looks more than fair. However, Summergrounds' third behind two subsequent winners at Kelso last month couldn't have worked out any better and Nicky Richards' gelding shades the verdict. Bathgate is unlikely to be far away if reproducing his latest runner-up effort over C&D.
