ANALYSIS: In rear and never that fluent, hit 9th, lost touch and struggling 11th (water) went left next, tailed off and pulled up before the last
VERDICT: El Rio was in a dominant mood when making a winning return at Huntingdon last month and, barring a mistake at the last, the seven-year-old showed he is adaptable over fences and should have more to offer from just 6lb higher. Passing Well is surely better than he managed when letting favourite backers down in a similar event at Newbury when last seen and could bounce back with trip and ground to suit. Belgarum and Abingworth are both on retrieval missions but could figure if their jumping improves.
