VERDICT: Having found only a progressive rival too strong at Wincanton last December, chasing/seasonal debutant Javert Allen ticks plenty of the right boxes. Jane Williams' gelding has the scope to excel over fences and he edges the vote over fellow unexposed rival Valadon. Connections are wasting no time in sending the four-year-old over the larger obstacles and his 8lb weight-for-age allowance means he cannot be taken lightly. Onewayortother should put the experience gained when third at Warwick to good use.
