VERDICT: Papa Don't Preach proved a different proposition in first-time blinkers when running out a two-length victor at Chelmsford recently and he should mount a bold bid, despite his 5lb penalty. However, he could come out second best to Lady Nunthorpe, who produced a better effort to make the frame in this grade at Newcastle earlier in the month. With Tom Kiely-Marshall claiming 5lb in the plate, she could be the one to beat. Soul Singer is another to note.
