VERDICT: Having finished runner-up in a couple of Group 2 events already, The Strikin Viking should be a key player despite failing to do himself justice by running too freely in the Gimcrack at York in August. However, Midnight Thunder is less exposed and appeals after he easily brushed aside a 7lb penalty in a novice stakes at Yarmouth last month. This obviously demands more but the son of Kodiac could find the requisite improvement with Oisin Murphy retaining the ride. Treasure Isle and Mr Lightside are other strong contenders.
