VERDICT: Emit had Medieval Night five lengths behind on debut at Leopardstown and the Joseph O'Brien-trained colt took a step forward on his next start when a creditable third to the long odds-on Acapulco Bay, also over a mile, at the Curragh. The form of that race received a boost when the runner-up Genealogy subsequently went one better at Punchestown. Serious Contender showed promise on debut at Naas and is likely to progress with that experience under his belt, while Aidan O'Brien is also represented by Second Guess, a son of Wootton Bassett and out of a half-sister to Derby winner Workforce.
