VERDICT: Red William wasn't far off in some fair contests. He is best weighted and if seeing out the distance could get back into the winners' enclosure. French Trip wasn't disgraced in his first post-maiden outing behind a well-weighted youngster and if stays could be the one. Only the race will show which of these is looking for a marathon distance. Quantifier seems to have had his confidence dented. He has stayed on well at times and perhaps it is his day to get the job fully done. Lucretius was beaten in a close finish the last time he raced on turf at this venue.
