VERDICT: Successful aboard Mica Malpic in 2022 and Harvey's Quay last year, Derek O'Connor now teams up with interesting handicap debutant Aurea Fortuna. A half-brother to dual Grade 1 winner Battleoverdoyen, he ran his best race to date when sixth at Roscommon last month and still only five, there should be plenty more to come from the Mount Nelson chestnut. Second and third in this very contest 12 months ago, Galon De Vauzelle and Avec Espoir both look to have solid claims, with the latter sure to have plenty of supporters after easily winning two of his last three. Recent Killarney victor Meehall and the locally trained Kadys Dirha are others for the shortlist in this competitive affair.
