VERDICT: Nice Ruler (8) has improved with each handicap appearance and, on the evidence of his fast-finishing 3rd over 1900m on PSF last time, this extended trip could unlock sufficient progress for him to open his account. However, Holly Phelie (2) is closely matched on that form (finished a neck behind the selection) so she will pose a threat. Tote Bag (12) will fare better over this distance after a disappointing last start over an inadequate trip, so he isn't underestimated. Shalaa Dancer (11) is the only last-start winner in the race and he ought to remain competitive despite a resultant penalty.
