VERDICT: A highly-creditable second when coming from off the pace at Newbury last month, Hale End has been difficult to predict this season but when he is on his game, the four-year-old can be tough to beat. The conditions of this contest are likely to suit, and he is preferred to the Beverley winner Lerwick, as well as Monte Linas, who showed his best form for some time when runner-up at the same track last month. Light Speed and On The River are likely to be thereabouts as well.
