VERDICT: Carnival Day more than justified strong support in the market when drawing clear of his rivals at Brighton nine days ago. That was the gelding's first career victory and a 6lb penalty may not be enough to prevent him from doubling his tally. Salamanca Lad warrants respect on the back of a close-up second over a mile at Southwell, but this stiff 1m2f is a concern. With that in mind, Miaswell may give the selection most to think about with this slight drop in yardage expected to suit.
