VERDICT: Fallen Soldier will have gone into a few notebooks when finishing fourth in a Southwell nursery on his handicap debut. He had to be switched for a clear run in the closing stages and is taken to turn the tables with the winner, River Blackwater, on today's more favourable terms. The latter is still improving and can go well again despite a 5lb rise, while Royal Accord may improve in a first-time tongue-tie having posted a better effort in a nursery at Lingfield last time.
