VERDICT: The form of Cadogan Place's debut victory reads very well in the context of this race and he wasn't disgraced in the Chester Vase most recently, so he must enter calculations. That said, preference is for Shader. The son of Shamardal left a low-key debut effort behind when bolting up over 1m4f at Southwell recently and, with the promise of more to come, he looks the one to side with. Of the newcomers, Fireblade appeals the most and the betting market may provide more clues.
