ANALYSIS: Prominent overall in far side pair, pushed along well over 1f out, soon hung right and weakened, eased final furlong
VERDICT: Jonquil had much more in hand than the winning margin suggests on his debut at Sandown because the son of Lope De Vega endured a far-from-ideal trip. The fact he still managed to score suggests that he has plenty of ability and he should be able to make his mark at this level. Symbol Of Honour was a close-up sixth in the Coventry at Royal Ascot and must not be discounted on his return from a break. The rest may need to improve, but Benevento and Mr Chaplin are the pick of them.
