VERDICT: Ashington had Well Educated (second), Calevade (third) and Vocal Duke (sixth) behind when he was a three-length victor over C&D on his penultimate start before only managing to finish fifth on the level at Carlisle last time. Mark Walford's nine-year-old will appreciate the return to this sphere and looks the one to beat. Shengai Enki failed to complete the hat-trick on his latest outing and is an interesting contender back in the handicap ranks. Young Merlin is another to note.
