VERDICT: Bowood looked firmly ahead of the handicapper when defying a 5lb rise over 1m at Ripon last time and he appears likely to add to his winning sequence. Ivan Furtado's charge scored in comfortable fashion by nearly four lengths and connections can't be blamed for trying to strike while the iron is hot. The principle threat is likely to come in the shape of fellow last-time-out winner Always Fearless, who won well over 1m at Windsor and this 5lb rise doesn't appear out of his reach, while Hostelry also makes the shortlist.
