VERDICT: Soul Icon finished 10 lengths clear of the third when runner-up at Aintree in May and is only 3lb higher so he has to be taken seriously. However, the vote goes to Statuario, who completed a double when accounting for subsequent winner Hang In There by a neck in the Perth Gold Cup. The nine-year-old has been put up 9lb for that victory but, in his current form, he is hard to ignore. Francky Du Berlais and Sure Touch are just two others to consider in an open contest.
