VERDICT: Pons Aelius was winning off an 11lb higher mark last summer and a creditable fourth in the Northumberland Vase at Newcastle last time suggests Charlie Johnston's charge can return to winning ways in this less competitive affair. Wannabe Brave's winning run came to an end here last month, but he still ran well for third and cannot be easily dismissed, while Grand Duchess Olga has been raised 3lb for winning a lower grade race over C&D and is taken to confirm superiority with the runner-up Doublethetrouble.
