VERDICT: Steppenwolf made the best possible start to life with David Pipe when breaking his chasing duck at Ffos Las. An 8lb rise complicates matters but he appears rejuvenated by the switch from Ireland and is preferred to Clondaw Royale, who could start to deliver on his early promise now he tackles fences. Deerstalker is fancied to do better than he did when sent off favourite at Stratford. Grey Skies is also worth a look.
