VERDICT: James Owen hasn't taken too long to work some magic with Mermaids Cave, who numbered Tour Ovalie and Carrigeen Kampala among her victims when completing a hat-trick at Cartmel. The five-year-old is open to even more improvement and is worth sticking with. Grivetana justified favouritism at Southwell on her first start for Harry Derham and is a big danger, while Pop The Champagne's Warwick second suggested that her turn is imminent again.
