VERDICT: Matterhorn had become disappointing over hurdles before returning to form on his fencing debut at Ludlow when scoring in a match contest. He jumped fine on the whole after an early error and the handicapper left his mark unchanged. Parc d'Amour went up 6lb for his victory at Southwell last month and is entitled to step forward, while Boombawn's third at Cartmel was a solid effort against more experienced chasers.
