VERDICT: Miners Gamble took a step back in the right direction when runner-up over 7f here and although comfortably put in her place, the winner has since numbered Mysteryofthesands among her victims when going in again at Beverley. Brian Ellison's gelding is just preferred to Hello Cotai, who also arrives on the back of a second placing and won't need the application of blinkers to prompt too much improvement. Lady Ava ended 2023 on a high by getting off the mark on soft ground at Catterick, while more is anticipated from Questionable now she goes handicapping.
