VERDICT: Magic Gem posted another creditable effort in defeat when a close-up second on his seasonal/stable debut at Newcastle earlier this month. Michael Herrington's gelding should appreciate this return to 7f and a first victory in 2024 could be on the cards. Conversely, Daphne May is likely to fare better on this drop in trip and the daughter of Mayson isn't taken lightly, while C&D scorer Heerathetrack is likely to be involved at the business end too.
