VERDICT: Imperial Bede was last seen finishing a creditable second in a tactically-run affair at Southwell and, eased 2lb for that performance, it would be no surprise if he were able to go one place better this time. Imac Wood had a legitimate excuse when pulling up in a similar contest at Fakenham in February and is better judged on his January C&D success. Cartonne looked a progressive handicap chaser to follow when notching up two victories in the winter. However, that improvement appears to have plateaued and he may have to settle for minor honours.
