VERDICT: Ashtown Lad was a comfortable winner of the Becher and has to be of interest now back over timber, with November's third to Remastered at Aintree evidence that he can be effective at this discipline. He is still passed over in favour of Glimpse Of Gala, who has gone up 5lb following a four-length success at Kempton. She has been steadily progressive so deserved that victory and can follow up. Paricolor filled the runner-up spot at Chepstow over an extended 2m7f most recently and is another to consider.
