Paddy Twomey’s Cheltenham winner Seo Linn is set to dabble further under the National Hunt code as Aintree and potentially Punchestown beckon before a switch to the level.
The five-year-old is by Order Of St George and has been patiently handled, making her debut at four in a Ballinrobe bumper last year and coming home the runner-up.
She has contested three more contests under the same code this season, most recently winning a Listed mares’ bumper at Cheltenham by five lengths during the track’s November meeting.
The trip to Prestbury Park was a rare foray into the winter game for Twomey and rider Billy Lee, who are best known for their exploits on the level and have teamed up to many Group-race successes.
The Dublin Racing Festival was discussed as a next port of call for Seo Linn after her Cheltenham triumph, but after that meeting was skipped it is now Aintree that awaits as she will be targeted at the Grade Two Nickel Coin Mares’ bumper.
The headline National Hunt meeting at Punchestown could then beckon as April moves into May, but either way a switch to the Flat code will come in the warmer months.
“The plan is to go to Aintree in early April for the mares’ bumper there,” said Twomey.
“Sh’s trained well all winter and we’re looking forward to this year with her.
“She’ll go next to Aintree and then we may take in Punchestown, we’ll think about that closer to the time.
“The main objective with her is to turn to the Flat and hopefully have a good campaign.
“She’s a nice filly, we’ve given her time and she’s come out of the winter looking very strong, so we’re really looking forward to seeing what she can do this year.”
